Catch the Bus Week 2018

Catch the Bus Week from 2 – 8 July is a national campaign all about encouraging people to leave their car at home and try catching the bus instead for the aid of our environment.

Buses are central to the daily lives on millions of people in the UK, they are the most widely used form of public transport according to Green Journeys. This campaign is important as buses are often overlooked and undervalued. Catch the Bus Week (CTBW) promotes buses as a green, accessible and inexpensive option for getting around. Take a look at what is happening in Lincoln this week to celebrate CTBW and the reasons why you should take the bus!

Why Catch the Bus?

Great for Mental Health - Catching the bus is 1/3 less stressful than driving a car.

Great for Physical Health - Walking to the bus stop can help achieve the Government's recommended 30 minutes of exercise per day.

Helping the most vulnerable get around - If bus services were improved by 10% then 10,000 more people in the poorest regions of England could lead to getting into work.

Congestion - A fully loaded double decker bus could take 75 cars off the road.

Environment - If everyone swapped a car journey for the bus once a month we would save 2 million tonnes of CO2. Buses are vital to improving air quality.
